Seventy years is worth celebrating. 🎉

Symons General Store , Deli, Bakery & Wine has been a Downtown Petoskey staple for generations, and this year marks an incredible 70 years in business.

Step inside and you’ll find a little bit of everything. Sauces, spices, wine, liquor, gourmet cheeses, deli salads, meats, made-to-order sandwiches, chocolates, candy, gifts, and those croissants that somehow make you feel like you took a quick trip to Europe.

Add in a friendly staff that makes every visit feel familiar, and it is easy to see why Symon’s has remained a downtown favorite for so long.

If these walls could talk, City Park Grill would have some stories to tell. 🍸

The building that is now City Park Grill has been part of Downtown Petoskey since 1875, when it was known as McCarty Hall, a billiard hall serving ci**rs, wine, and liquor.

But one of its most famous connections? A young Ernest Hemingway.

Hemingway spent many of his early years in Northern Michigan, and this Petoskey watering hole became part of that story. Today, you can grab a seat, enjoy a meal or a drink, and soak up a little of the same atmosphere that has been drawing people through these doors for generations.

This is what we love about Downtown Petoskey. Sometimes you are not just having dinner. You are sitting inside a piece of our history.

And with tales of Prohibition, underground tunnels, Hemingway, and even a ghost story or two, City Park Grill has plenty of history to go around.
