I think one of the most painful realizations in life is understanding that not every hurtful person is unaware.
For a long time, we tell ourselves stories that make the pain easier to carry.
Maybe they didn't mean it.
Maybe they don't realize how much this affects me.
Maybe if I explain it one more time, they'll finally understand.
And sometimes that's true.
But sometimes it isn't.
Sometimes the person heard you the first time.
They saw the tears.
They noticed the distance growing between you.
They knew something inside you was breaking.
The difference is that your pain wasn't important enough to change their behavior.
That's a difficult truth because it forces you to stop waiting for understanding and start accepting reality.
Not everyone who hurts you is confused.
Not everyone who disappoints you lacks awareness.
Some people simply prioritize their comfort over your well-being.
And healing often begins the moment you stop trying to convince someone to care.
Because the real question isn't whether they understand your pain.
It's whether they've shown any willingness to protect you from it.
Once you see that clearly, something shifts.
You stop chasing explanations.
You stop negotiating for basic respect.
And little by little, you start giving yourself the care you've been begging someone else to give you.
