Well poo.... yeah that happened.
One snapped when I was setting the bolster, small hammer tap and pow, so I tested the other.. it snapped too.
Hate to admit these things to you guys, but this is an example of how we learn the hard way. Looks like I left to sharp of corners at the tang base and created my own problem, over stressed the base area and it snapped. Grain looks good, must have just been meant to be.
Gonna have to start all over with the chef set build. The leftovers will be modified into something else for the customers boys, and the 2 smaller ones will be completed for the daughter as they passed the strength testing.
Expensive mistake. Valuable lesson learned. Thankful for an understanding customer, I always make things right, even at a loss if I have to. My name and my integrity mean everything to me.
This set me back, but opened up learning, and an opportunity as well. We'll salvage whats left and turn it into art too. Just a slap in the nuts today. 😒
