Monday Musky Minute: Hey, it’s mid August…water temps finally back into the 70’s…although still upper 70’s…

So think sunrise and sunset hours, weather changes, and targeting lower light times of day. Maybe even some night fishing later in the week, 🤔

Shallow early and late…deeper mid day…maybe even try some trolling of deep side of w**d lines, 🤔.

Forecast once again looks fishy with fronts moving in/out throughout the week. Many anglers follow moon phases but maybe think weather first, then timing and phases.

Top Lures:
Musky - Bucktails, Rubber, Topwater
Bass/Pike - Ned Rigs, Spinnerbaits, Topwater
Bass/Walleye - Jig N…Plastic, Minnow, Crawler

“Two better than one” — when fishing w**ds look for “w**ds and”…such as w**ds & rocks, w**ds & deep water drop, w**ds & point, or current, or wind blown, or bait, 🤔.

First August sunset before 8:00pm…and it’s been a beauty. Always such a fantastic feeling when family, friends, neighbors, visitors hang out at “The Shop”. Ice cream anyone? Or maybe a snack and a beverage !?!

Musky Monday Minute: Can you believe it’s the first full week of August? 8/3-8/9 should provide excellent early-morning and evening fishing, with midday action slowing as water temps remain in the upper 70s on many southeastern Wisconsin lakes. Muskies deserve yet another “summer holiday” week. Please give them a break until water temps cool below 78.

Reports from across Wisconsin continue to show stable midsummer patterns for muskies, bass, pike, walleye, and panfish.

If/when you find cooler waters…

Fish sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, and pre + post frontal.

10-16 w**d edges & pockets
Deep/Deeper cabbage
Rock-to-w**d transitions
Mid-lake humps, structure, cribs

Bucktails: 8’s, 9’s, 8/9’s
Topwater (🌥️wind blown shorelines)
Rubber (deep/deeper w**ds)
Cranks (💨🌥️, stained water)

Stay on the move…10-15 min per spot…cover water. Wind-blown shorelines should significantly outperform calm water.

Should be a great start to August when targeting LMB, Smallies, Pike, Walleye, Panfish.
