Why did we choose the Douro River for our next group river cruise option?
If you have seen the news lately or have been following River cruises the Danube and Rhine have been experiencing record low water levels causing River cruises to cancel or travel by bus.
-We did not want your vacation disrupted by forces we cannot change or predict.
-The Douro has smaller river ships than other rivers and the river itself is remarkably wild and not industrial.
-The weather is warmer in Portugal so April makes sense. We melted in Rome and Florence in early April.
-The Allegria cruises during the day whereas most river cruises cruise at night so you miss a lot of scenery and cruising.
Years ago I videoed going through a lock on the Danube. I was the only person on deck beside the engineer getting us through the lock. I was in a winter coat and pajamas 😂. I’d like to leisurely go through with a glass of w**e during the day.
