From owen “What is money? How has it come to dominate our world at the expense of “real life”? Monetary institutions – like debt, capital, and interest – have somehow both revolutionized modern life and made it impossible for us to escape from the past. What went wrong? And, can we imagine any other way of organizing our society?

In this class we will read J. W. Mason and Arjun Jayadev’s new book, Against Money, and through discussion answer these pressing questions. This course is part of a larger series on demystifying economics for non-economists: No prior knowledge required.

Class will take place on Thursdays, from 6-8pm, September 10th to October 15th at Lot 49 Books in Fishtown, Philadelphia.

Book included in ticket price, sliding scale: $80-160. Paying more helps us to offer these classes at a discount rate for others!”
