The impact Beyond Deconstructing has had on not only my audience’s lives but my own can’t be boiled down into a few words. From finding a true community and kinship to providing a mirror to reflect back to those who have never seen their experience in others, the mission of Beyond Deconstructing is very much needed in the community.

“I’m not miserable, I’m just not like them.” - Daria Morgendorfer

Inspired by the classic series “Daria”, the Autizzy Collection puts a spin on the recognizable figure that has been held as an autistic icon for those that relate to her honesty, authenticity, flat affect and one liners.

Autizzy is a term that has been around for a few decades but recently has been coined as a term to specifically describe Black autistics. When used as a hashtag on social media, it serves as a way for Black and other POC autistics to find and connect with each other. The movement still largely focuses on the experiences of white autistics, allowing to emerge as a signal for autists of the global majority to find each other.
