During the Book Fair we had amazing authors and illustrators such as Tracey Baptiste

Tracey Baptiste (pronounced buhTEEST ) is a New York Times bestselling author of over 30 books for children. She writes stories for kids of all ages packed with adventure, history, science, and sometimes all three. Her most recent books are the kindergarten superhero book Super Goat Girl, the sci-fi adventure Boy 2.0, and the middle grade fantasy Moko Magic: Museum Mayhem. BOY 2.0

Win “Coal” Keegan has just landed in his latest foster home, with a big, noisy, slightly nosy family named the McKays. They seem eager to welcome Coal, but he’s wary of trusting them. So, he doesn’t tell them that he went for a walk with chalk in his pocket to cover a nearby street with his art. He doesn’t tell them that a neighbor found Coal drawing, pulled a gun on him, and fired it. He doesn’t tell them the police chased him. And he definitely doesn’t tell them that when everything went down, Coal somehow turned invisible. But he did.

Now he has to figure out how. Is he a superhero? Some kind of mutant? A science experiment? Is that why he has no family of his own? As Coal searches for answers and slowly learns to control his invisibility, he turns to the McKay kids and friends both new and old for help. But they soon discover they’re not the only ones looking for a Black boy with superpowers, and the situation is far stranger—and more dangerous—than they ever could have expected.

During the AABC we had the honor of having Crystal Allen.

CRYSTAL ALLEN is the author of five middle-grade books, including How Lamar’s Bad Prank Won a Bubba-Sized Trophy, and the Magnificent Mya Tibbs series, all published by Balzer + Bray. She is Co-Director of Kindling Words East, faculty member of Highlight’s for Children and committee member of The Brown Bookshelf.. Crystal lives in Texas with her husband, Reggie, and two sons, Phillip, and Joshua.



BETWEEN TWO BROTHERS

Inspired by real events, Between Two Brothers is a powerful and uplifting story about forgiveness, brotherhood, and the power of a family’s unconditional love.

Isaiah “Ice” Abernathy has always worshiped his older brother, Seth. For years they’ve been not just brothers but best friends—and as Seth starts his senior year, Ice is eager to spend as much time with his brother as he can, making memories before Seth goes to college.

But when Seth announces he’s leaving much earlier than expected, and then he misses an important event—one he’d promised to attend—it causes a major fight.

Filled with regret, Ice plans to apologize to Seth later the next day, but later never comes, as he finds out Seth was in an accident—one that leaves him in the hospital. And the doctors say he may never recover.
