These hand-painted Ecuadorian folk art Mukawa bowls feature intricate geometric patterns and a unique insect motif.
🌱Origin: Indigenous Canelos Quichua communities in the Amazon region of Ecuador.
The artisans craft their paintbrushes by binding a few strands of their own hair to a small twig. This method creates an incredibly fine tip that allows them to paint the intricate, hair-thin geometric patterns shown on the bowls.
🪲Design: Polychrome clay construction with traditional geometric patterns and pictorial insect designs.
🍵Usage: Traditionally used as ceremonial drinking bowls for Chicha, a fermented beverage.
