🌻 Flower of the week 🌻

We have standard yellows in almost all year long while the unique varieties start to come in around late August through November.

The common sunflower is a tall, coarse, fast-growing annual plant in the daisy family Asteraceae. Native to North America, it features rough, hairy stems, large green leaves, and bright yellow flower heads with dark centers that grow up to 10 feet tall!

Warm-season annual
Height: 2 to 10 feet
Bloom Time: Summer to fall (July through October)
Sunlight: Full sun
Native Range: North America and Mexico

Young buds face east and track the sun during the day (heliotropism). Mature flowers stay facing east.

☀️ Thrives in full sun and dry or poor soil. It is very tough and handles drought well.

Seeds are harvested worldwide to make cooking oil, birdseed, and human snacks. 😋

🐝 Attracts bees, butterflies, and seed-eating birds like goldfinches.

Typical price range $2.50- $7 a stem depending on variety.

Prairie gentian—most commonly known as Lisianthus (or Lizzy as we call it!) is a striking herbaceous plant native to the warm regions of North and South America.
It features large, rose-like bell-shaped flowers in shades mostly of purple, pink, white and grows 1 to 3 feet tall.

Hardy in USDA Zones 8–10; frequently grown as a tender annual in colder regions.

Highly popular as a long-lasting cut flower for bouquets and special events.

Flowers from mid-summer through the fall frost.

Generally considered non-toxic to humans and pets, making it a safe garden alternative.

Prices typically range from $4- $7 a stem.

To make drooping hydrangeas bounce back instantly, dip their freshly cut stem ends straight into a cup of common kitchen alum powder before placing them into your vase.

This old florist trick stops the stems from clogging and helps keep the blooms fresh and wilt-free!

💐 Flower of the week 💐
Introducing…….
RANUNCULUS!!

These delicate beauties come in assorted colors! Mainly featuring tones of pinks, corals, yellows, reds, burgundy’s and white.

They bloom in solid colors as well as some bi-colored varieties as well. 😊

Often times, they are mistaken for small garden roses or even “mini” peonies & sometimes even a buttercup?

Victorians used them to express deep charm and radiant attraction.

They thrive in wet areas near streams or rivers.

Where do our Ranunculus come from we use here?
They are grown for our wholesalers in
the Netherlands, Italy (especially Liguria and Tuscany), Colombia, Ecuador, and Coastal California in the United States!

If we are lucky, sometimes we can source a local grower, typically bringing prices lower to you!

Price ranges can be anywhere from $5.50-$12 a stem depending on where they are sourced and varieties.
