Colorado, I’m on my way back. 🤍

Tomorrow I get to do one of my favorite things: pack up the car and head on an adventure!

This weekend I’ll be at the Vibe Artisan Market in Denver with the Colorado Collection (and Arizona, and California, and Illinois)

There’s something especially meaningful about bringing these soaps back to the place that inspired them. Every visit adds another layer to the story—new conversations, familiar faces, and little details that absolutely become part of the Colorado story.

If you’re in the Denver area this weekend , I’d love to see you. 🤍

Prairie 🤍

Of all four seasons, late summer might be the easiest to overlook.

It’s the quiet space between the fullness of summer and the color of fall. The fields begin to change, the grasses turn gold, and the air carries a dry sweetness that seems to linger a little longer each evening.

Growing up in Illinois, this season always felt like a gentle reminder to pay attention. It never lasted very long.

Prairie is the final chapter in my Illinois Collection.

Earth smell 🤍

The word geosmin literally means “earth smell.”

It’s a naturally occurring compound produced by soil microbes and as one of the reasons healthy for us to have that Rich earthy smell.

Growing up, I never knew there was a name for that scent. I just called it, good dirt.

Prevernal 🤍

Before spring has fully arrived, there’s an in-between-season when the first signs of life begin to appear.

This soap is inspired by that moment.

Growing up along the Fox River, I learned to look for the little things that meant winter was finally ending: trilliums beginning to bloom, skunk cabbage pushing through the forest floor, muddy boots, rain-soaked woods, and farmers preparing their fields.

But if you grew up in Illinois, you also know this season can test your patience.

By Feb/March, I was more than ready for winter to be over. The snowbanks were gray, the trees were bare, and everything felt tired. Then we’d get a warm, sunny day and I’d think, This is it. Spring is finally here. A few days later, it would snow again.

It always felt like spring was teasing us.

“Prevernal” is a word for the season before spring. It became the first chapter of my Illinois Collection.

Every natural object in this photograph was gathered from my parents’ yard (the same acre above the Fox River that inspired this collection) and photographed on my mom’s weathered blue porch floor 🤍

My very first Renegade and my very first market in Chicago🤍

I launched the Illinois soap collection, exactly where I had hoped, back in my home state.

One of my favorite parts of this weekend was having my cousin with her kiddos drive in from Indiana to help at the market. It was their first time working a market with me and getting to share this milestone with family made it even more memorable.

We had a quick July downpour on Saturday they sent everyone running for cover, but once the sun came back out, so did the crowds.

I’m so grateful to everyone who stopped by, smelled the new collection, shared their own Illinois stories and made my first Renegade one I’ll never forget.

Here’s hoping I’ll be back in Chicago this September 🤍

Summer citrus soap making at Wijaya House this past weekend 🤍

We spent the evening chopping, melting, adding locally grown loofah, and creating bright citrus soaps. Every bar turned out a little different, and that’s always my favorite part.

A huge shout-out to Nadia’s dad for growing and sharing these beautiful local loofahs!

Thank you to everyone who joined me 🤍

Our next workshop at Wijaya House will be Saturday, August 22. Stay tuned for sign-up details!
