We asked Douglas Pro Taylor Joyce a few questions to get to know the incredible angler and even better human behind the rod! ​

​“What got me into fishing was Growing up in North Carolina my grandparents had a small stream that ran through the back of their property where we would fish together. The first thing we’d do when I got to their house would be to immediately drop my bags and hop in the Polaris or the old Ford and mosey to the stream to fish. Half the time we wouldn’t catch anything but crawfish, but my grandparents are a big reason why I love the outdoors so much. Favorite part of being a guide? After years and years of fishing my favorite part is seeing the light in someone’s eyes when they get their first fish on the end of their line. It’s like I’m experiencing it all over again for myself.​

​My favorite fishing stories would have to be when one of my best friends came to CO from TN to visit during late summer. It wasn’t the ideal time to come but we were set on making it work and headed to a lake where the deeper water is a little friendlier for trout. The fishing for several days was brutal because the fish were sitting at the bottom of the lake because of the heat toward the top. We caught some little stockers here and there in the days prior, and finally decided to go out of our comfort zone the last day and try a different spot where we both caught the most incredible fish - both easily over 26”. She said that one fish was worth the entire trip and it just absolutely warmed my heart. ​

​A fun fact about me is that I’m a big time scuba diver! I’m currently working toward being master scuba diver
and have been diving in Hawaii, Cozumel, Cabo, Saint Lucia, and Belize!”​
