August 2 🤍
Happy Birthday, Lawrence George Wake

A cowboy. A hard worker. A father.
The kind of man who showed love through what he did, not just what he said.

He taught his kids how to fish…
Spent Friday nights at the movies…
And built a life rooted in strength, family, and simple moments.

His story still lives on — in us, in tradition, and even in a bowl of his famous beef stew.

Legacy isn’t just remembered… it’s lived.

Some recipes are more than food, they're memories served one spoonful at a time.
For our family, Grandma Ruth and my mother, Eileen, made Jell-O salads that became staples at holiday dinners, summer picnics, and family reunions. Whether it was a creamy Lime Jell-O Salad or a bright Lemon Surprise Jell-O Salad, these dishes always found a place on the table, and in our hearts.

As I preserve our family's recipes through Connectivity: A Taste of Family History, I'm reminded that every handwritten recipe card tells a story. The faded ink, handwritten notes, and well-loved pages connect us to the generations before us, keeping their traditions alive for those who come after.

Today, in honor of National Eat Your Jell-O Day, I'm sharing one of Eileen's treasured recipes. It's a simple reminder that family history isn't just found in documents and photographs, it's also found around the dinner table

🥧 What’s your family’s oldest recipe?

Long before apple pie became a symbol of America, our ancestors fought for the freedoms that helped shape this nation. As I bake Eileen’s Apple Pie, I’m reminded that family recipes are more than food, they’re a way to honor the generations who came before us.

From Revolutionary War patriots to today’s family table, this pie carries the flavors of resilience, sacrifice, and love. ❤️🤍💙
