White Waters

The longer I live, the more I realize how little I know — at least when it comes to the inner workings of life.

How do we end up in the situations and circumstances that make up our days, our weeks, our years? Could or should we have seen them coming? Were they predictable?

I like to think I’m in charge of my destiny, that the choices I’ve made have led me here. Yet sometimes it feels as if I’m simply a float on the river of life — sometimes moving smoothly and gently, other times tossed through rapids, ravines, and undercurrents that demand split-second decisions just to stay above water.

It’s in those moments — the ones that churn and crash — that I find myself asking if any of it was foreseeable. Could I have been more prepared? Or does life simply throw us curveballs now and then to see what we’re made of?

Closing Storm Wisdom, a business that has been part of my life for more than sixteen years, is one of those white-water moments. It’s not the only one; there are other big changes and endings flowing alongside it, each somehow connected. But letting go of this — releasing, saying goodbye to something that has brought such joy, growth, community, and belonging — feels especially significant.
A few weeks ago, I admitted I had no idea how to close or liquidate a business. I said I’d be flying by the seat of my pants, fingers crossed. It turns out that was true. In many ways, this process has been better than I expected or dared hope. In others, it’s still confusing and nerve-wracking — the kind of thing that keeps me awake at night, wondering again: how did I get here?
And I don’t just mean the act of closing the doors. I mean — how did this magical place even come to be? What in my earlier life ever pointed to this journey that would shape nearly a quarter of my years?

When I look back, I see that Storm Wisdom is where I became a writer — and that, to me, feels like one of life’s most unexpected gifts. It’s also one of the ways I’ve felt most deeply connected to this community.
Maybe what surprises me most isn’t that it’s ending, but how full it feels — even in the midst of uncertainty. Every person who has walked through those doors, shared a conversation, a laugh, or a quiet moment of reflection — you’ve all been part of shaping what Storm Wisdom became.

It was never just crystals, classes, or candles. It was the exchange of energy, the gentle encouragement to listen more deeply, to trust what was stirring inside. You taught me as much as I ever hoped to offer you.
And maybe that’s what the river has been trying to show me — that none of us are really steering alone. We ride these currents together. Sometimes we hold each other steady through the rough waters, and sometimes we just witness the beauty of the flow.
So as I let go of this chapter, what stays with me is profound gratitude — for the community we built, for the ways you showed up, and for reminding me that endings, too, can be sacred spaces.

The river moves on. And I’m learning to trust that its next bend will be just as mysterious, and just as full of grace.

P.S. Lots of you have asked how to keep up with my writing after this newsletter wraps up. I’ll be posting on Medium — it’s a site for writers. You don’t have to join; just click “follow” and you’ll see when something new goes up. It won’t be weekly (unless my brain insists), but sometimes I just need to get the words out of my head!

Stressed

I’m STRESSED OUT!

What surprises me most is why. It’s not because I’m sad, conflicted, or upset. In fact, I’m actually feeling excited — hopeful, even. I’m loving seeing so many of you, catching up, laughing, reminiscing… and yes, talking about what’s next.

But still — I’m stressed.

I’m not sleeping. I’m emotionally eating. I’m a little snippy.

Pretty sure Fito is eyeing the nearest escape route — possibly to another time zone.

When I slow down to figure it out, the to-do list starts waving its arms like, “Hey! Remember me?”

And honestly, for someone like me — with my personality type, astrological quirks, human-design wiring, and a lifetime of wanting things just so — not knowing how everything will unfold is pure torture.

In short: I’m out of control because I have no control. And apparently my ego isn’t thrilled about that.

The funny thing is, I keep hearing the same thing from so many of you. We’re all spinning a lot of plates right now — even when life’s good.

So maybe the answer is to pause for a bit.

To breathe.

To ground.

To let the emotions move through instead of pretending they’re not there.

Because if we don’t, “stressed out” becomes the new normal — and that’s not the vibe we’re going for.

Storm Wisdom Closing & Liquidation Sale

Now… let’s talk about something a little more fun — bargains!

This week everything in the store is 50% off!

Seriously — everything. Crystals, jewelry, cards, candles, sage, you name it. We’re also starting to pull out display pieces, backstock, fixtures, and equipment.

And for the first time, we’ll be promoting the sale on external sites to bring in the deal-hunters. Still, we really hope to see you — because your familiar faces and warm energy make this whole thing feel grounded and good.

Then comes the grand finale:

Thursday, Nov. 13 – Sunday, Nov. 16, everything will be 65% off!

That’s only eight more shopping days before the doors close.

Thank you, from all of us, for showing up with so much love and laughter. Let’s make these next two weeks amazing — with a few deep breaths in between the shopping sprees.

First Dibs

I can’t tell if it’s a good thing or a bad one… but TIME seems to be playing tricks on me lately.

Half the time, I’m not sure if I’m coming or going — though thankfully, Gisela seems to be right there with me! Between the two of us, you’d think one of us would know what day it is… but honestly, that skill seems to come and go moment by moment.

Maybe it’s because these next couple of weeks feel a little unpredictable. Starting next week, we’ll be sharing our Store Closing & Liquidation Sale on those public “bargain hunter” sites — and yes, everything will be 50% off. So there will be deals everywhere.

Still, these first two weeks — our “loyal friends and clients” weeks — have been the best part. You’ve made it an absolute blast.

So this Saturday and Sunday (10am–6pm), we’re doing a First Dibs weekend just for you.

Everything in the store will be 50% OFF— and for the final time, our famous $25 Grab-Bags will be up for grabs (literally)!

Come hang out, laugh with us, and see what treasures are waiting for you!

Ripples
Several times this week, longtime clients and friends have stopped in to say goodbye and support us during the first week of our closing and liquidation. Again and again, I’ve heard the same words: “I’m so sad you’re closing.”

At first, I took that to mean they felt sad for Gisela or me. (Okay—mostly me, because of course it’s always about me, right?)

But as the conversations continued, I began to understand that their sadness wasn’t just about us. It was about what they were losing—a safe place, a space of comfort, connection, and community. A place of discovery and beauty. A resource that had quietly become part of their own stories.

I’ve been working to stay present with my own emotions—to not stuff them away or hide them, but to honor them, and to honor this remarkable place.

In doing that, I hadn’t fully considered the impact of Storm Wisdom’s absence on others. But now, through the stories being shared, the keepsakes being chosen, and the words of encouragement offered, I realize it isn’t just me—or Gisela, Millie, and Stephanie—who are letting go. It’s all of us.

It’s humbling to imagine the ripples—how far they extend, how they touch lives in ways we may never see. Each of us has tossed our own pebble into this shared pond, creating waves that overlap, interrupt, and merge. Many concentric circles blending and becoming more because of what we created together.

I have always known Storm Wisdom was a place of beauty. Yet there’s something profound in the shared experience of releasing it together. It amplifies the power of what was built here—and for that, I am deeply grateful.

We’ll be open for twelve more days—Thursday through Sunday for the next three weeks.

I hope you’ll stop in and see what calls to you. We still have many treasures—jewelry, crystals, candles, cards, incense, and more—each carrying a bit of the Storm Wisdom spirit. With the holidays coming, it’s a lovely time to find meaningful gifts at a fraction of the cost, and to carry a piece of this place forward.
