The Yamaha MT-09 is one of those motorcycles that makes a lot more sense once you understand what Yamaha built it to do.

At the center of it is Yamaha’s 890cc CP3 three-cylinder engine — a motor known for strong low- and midrange torque, quick response, and a ton of personality without needing to live at the top of the rev range.
