2019 was my first year “in business,” and my very first solo wedding as a designer was my own — a January day that turned into a full winter wonderland covered in ten inches of snow.
While the trend then was eucalyptus everything, I wanted my wedding to feel like my own. Not Christmas, not trendy — just a soft winter palette full of soft candlelight, white florals, and silvery eucalyptus. (And if we ever get the pleasure of working together, ask me about Nutcrackers and my own bridezilla moment.)
I’d make different choices now, but the feeling was what I was after — and that’s still one of the first questions I ask every couple: What do you want your wedding to feel like?
Most of my design work is rooted in the lanes I’ve walked my whole life — the farm I grew up on, and the cattle farm I live on now. Those quiet paths shaped my eye for texture, organic movement, and the way florals can invoke memories.
Your wedding should feel uniquely you, but it will always be touched by the landscapes that shaped who I am.
