The wife of the infamous spirit photographer William Mumler, she was a spirit medium that claimed to have gotten the formula for Mesmerine through communication from her spirit guide Dr. Benjamin Rush. Circa 1920 Morton E. Converse Ouija board. The most blatant of the William Fuld Ouija rip offs of the time, the only thing he really changed was the Ouija font and put the biggest directions imaginable on the reverse. This is one of the last boards from my talking board collection, and I’ve held on to it for years because the wood grain is just so prominent. This is a very nice example of a Converse Ouija, usually they darken or fade over the past century. No planchette. $775

Circa 1917 Mitche Manitou Talking Board with Mystic Hand Planchette. This is my favorite talking board design of all time, and out of the 250 rare and antique talking boards I’ve sold in the past two years this one has stuck around because I love the design so much. Here’s a really unusual one. Early 1900s postcard of what appears to be a pregnant tattooed lady. It is signed in ink “Miss Carry”. I don’t know if this was her name or someone’s idea of dark humor, I’ve never seen this card or performer before. Very strange piece of sideshow and tattoo history. $550
