We love hearing how our workshops help fiber artists feel more confident with their tools.

Our workshops are all about taking the mystery out of drum carding and helping you understand not just how a drum carder works, but why different techniques and fiber preparations create different results.

Whether you’re new to drum carding or have been using one for years, there’s always more to explore.

Thank you, Valerie, for sharing your experience with us! We can’t wait to see you again in class.

Batt #4 is on the drum!

We saved one of our favorite techniques for last—color blending.

Using different amounts of the three primary colors, every student creates a blend that's uniquely their own. With every pass, the colors become more integrated, allowing you to decide exactly how subtle or dramatic you want your blend to be. The result is a custom color that's completely your own—something you simply can't create any other way.

Want to experience it for yourself? Join us for an Exploring the Drum Carder workshop! We're teaching at fiber festivals across the country this year. Check the link in our bio to see where we'll be next.

Batt #3 is on the drum!

This time, we're making carded sliver.

Carded sliver is a lofty, continuous fiber preparation that drafts smoothly without the compressed layers of a batt. It's one of our favorite ways to prepare fiber because it's easy to spin, consistent, and eliminates the need to tear batts into strips before spinning.

Want to learn how to create carded sliver—and three other fiber preparations—on your own drum carder? Join us for an Exploring the Drum Carder workshop!

Batt #2 is on the drum!

Batt #1 was a semi-worsted preparation, and now we're carding up Batt #2: woolen.

Join us in Exploring the Drum Carder as we compare woolen and semi-worsted preparations, discuss how each affects your finished yarn, and show you how to create four different batts on the same drum carder.

We're teaching this workshop at fiber festivals across the country this year. Check the link in our bio to see where we'll be next!
