It’s officially October, which means it’s our anniversary month! 🎉

For 45 years, The Finishing Touch has had the privilege of bringing custom picture framing to downtown Pittsburg.

When we go looking for memories, so often we look for photographs. And when you’re a small, family-owned business like ours, those family photo albums hold more than birthdays, holidays and everyday moments—they hold the story of the lives and the business we’ve built along the way.

For 45 years, you’ve trusted us with your photographs, artwork, keepsakes and memories, and having the opportunity to frame pieces of your family histories while creating our own has truly been an honor.

All month long, we’re going to be digging through our own photo albums and sharing a little of The Finishing Touch’s history with you. Some things have changed quite a bit over 45 years…and some things haven’t changed at all.

We’d love to hear from you, too: How long have you been a customer of The Finishing Touch? And if you have a favorite memory of us, we’d love for you to share it below. 💙

Some restorations need a little cleanup. This one needed a lot of love.
Years of damage had left this photograph covered in cracks, creases, discoloration and areas where the image itself was badly deteriorated. Bringing it back wasn’t a matter of pushing a button or applying a filter—it meant carefully working through the photograph, section by section, repairing hundreds of little imperfections while making sure the people and details that mattered stayed true to the original.
This is one of those transformations where the amount of work may be hard to appreciate until you see the process. But little by little, the damage disappears—and the photograph underneath gets a chance to be seen again.
We love being able to take something that looks like it may be too far gone and give it new life.

Sometimes we all need a little happiness. 🌸

Today is National Day of Encouragement, and we think it’s a pretty good reminder that encouragement doesn’t always have to be something big. Send the text. Give the compliment. Tell someone you’re proud of them. Hang something on your wall that makes you smile every time you walk by.

In honor of today, we’re spreading a Little Happiness of our own with 15% off artwork at The Finishing Touch Publishing through Sunday.

And while you’re there, maybe find a piece that encourages you, makes you smile, brings you peace—or simply makes your space feel a little more like you. ❤️

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the first responders and everyday Americans who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. 🇺🇸

“You should have seen her in color.”

There’s something special that happens when we add color back to an old photograph. Suddenly, you notice the warmth in her skin, the details in her clothing, and especially the story in her eyes.

It becomes a little easier to see past the photograph and connect with the person who was actually there—to imagine her personality, her expressions, and who she might have been.

That’s what we love about restoration. Sometimes we’re not just bringing back the details of a photograph. We’re helping bring the person in it back to life, too.

Our neighbors are getting some much-needed love for the next few weeks. Please know that parking will be a little trickier than usual, but still available on 7th street and the west side of Broadway.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support during construction!
