Many of our friends have asked us and you may be wondering: How did you get into this kalimba business?
It was the summer of 2025, Bill and I found ourselves at a crossroads vocationally and in just a few weeks we were going to have to travel to marry off our last child. So, we weren’t in a hurry to find just another job. In addition, I have an entrepreneurial spirit and am always looking at business options. One morning, I thought, “I wonder if there are musical instrument manufacturing businesses for sale?”—back story: Bill has said for several years that God had impressed upon him that in eternity, he will be able to plant a tree, watch it grow, cut it down, and make his own musical instruments—the point being time will not be an issue and an insight as to his passion for music and working with his hands!
So, I did a quick Google search and to my delight, there were some options. Clearly, we landed here with Mountain Melodies. Interested in more details? Ask a question or just give me a thumbs up in the comments.
Our picture on the wedding day which I think makes for a great picture of Mountain Melodies owners until we get some "shop" photos of actually making the kalimbas.

I need your input! Since we began this adventure 6 months ago and most of you following this page were here before me, I want to know who my audience is. Please answer the following question:
Why are you following Mountain Melodies page?

TRANSFORMATION--this is the word I woke up with on my mind this morning. We at Mountain Melodies are involved in the transformation of a small piece of wood into a simple musical instrument that anyone who has two thumbs can enjoy because of our easy numbering system while those with musical talent quickly master and amaze me with what they can do with it.
When I think about transformation, I'm also reminded of Romans 12:2 "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..." Since there is much in this world to despair over, it's good to take some time to renew your mind; slow down, connect with your creator, and enjoy some time with your kalimba.
