I was honored to represent The Young Dreamers' Bookstore at the National Association of Black Bookstore's press conference held yesterday in Pittsburgh. As one of two Black Bookstores in the city of Pittsburgh, this association and vast network of Black bookstores across the country is important to the work we do.

We are truly inspired by the mission and network of fellow bookstore owners who are committed to making this world better through the books we sell.

We were thrilled to partner with the Alumni Theater Company for their incredible production of "Akeelah and the Bee." Special thanks to Bridgette Perdue for the invitation to partner.

For this awesome play, we curated special selection of books inspired by the play's themes of resilience and the pursuit of dreams. We would like to congratulate the talented student actors invoked laughter, deep thoughts, and inspiration to take small a big steps towards our dreams. Bravo to the all the adults who were these amazing young people in to perform so excellently!

In addition, we enjoyed connecting with parents, supporters, and the community. We look forward to future collaborations with this amazing company!

Lastly, I had the opportunity to host the intermission spelling bee, which was super fun!

Calling all parents and families! Don’t miss our very first Read to Dream Experience at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. This inspiring event, theme "Our Dreams Make the World a Better Place," will feature a special reading of Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman’s uplifting book, "Something Someday."

Bring your kids for an afternoon of joyful story-time, hands-on activities, and a vibrant pop-up bookshop! Plus, we’re thrilled to welcome the Governor’s Commission for African-American Affairs, who will be hosting interactive story-pods from 12pm to 1pm.

At The Young Dreamers’ Bookstore, we believe books have the power to assist kids in pursuing their dreams. We look forward to dreaming out loud with you and your young dreamer Feburary 28!
