My partner took this photo of me on film in my beautiful shared little corner of the universe the other day.
I started at the shop almost 2 years ago (for the second time - I also had a rack here in 2021-22), with the hope that I’d be here for a long time. After 8 years of having a vintage side business, I was beyond grateful to be turning it into a full(ish) time gig.
At the beginning, there was talk of Meridith moving out of Pittsburgh & me inheriting the store in its entirety. And thank god that didn’t happen, for 500 reasons, but mostly the biggest one - that this business can be challenging/draining/disappointing in ways that I wasn’t prepared for; and that having a best pal by my side through it all made is easier & more special.
I’m struggling with how to talk about all of this, both here & in person. I’m sad, I’m disappointed, I don’t fully know what’s next. I’m kind of sick of the niceties that people express at times like this, the “when one door closes, another one opens…” and the “…onto the next chapter!”. Because the truth is, this totally sucks! And I don’t really have a plan!
All of this is to say, I know that I was given such a unique & special opportunity to live out a dream of mine, and I am so so so grateful. Grateful to Mer for inviting me into the space, grateful to all of my friends and customers who supported me & the business, and grateful to myself for having the guts to give it a shot.
This weekend will be our last “regular” shopping weekend, so come see us Friday thru Monday (I’ll be there Sunday 😉). Then next Friday, we’re going out with a bang for our shop closing party, starting at 5pm on the 15th. Finally, the following weekend, we’ll be having a clear out sale. More details on that to follow.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks. I love you, couldn’t have done it with ya. ❣️
