We are SO back. After years of agonizing over a greenhouse, I finally have a basic little one.
The way I developed this flower method is very counter intuitive to established farming practice.
Plug trays (trays of little baby plants) aren’t really available how I want them.
Since it’s my way or the highway, I have to start every plant from seed into the trays myself.
I use 128 cell trays which each equates to yield a 70’ x 3’ row.
Previously, I have been starting the seeds in a totally inefficient manner, under grow lights with heat mats in the basement of whoever thankfully accepts my extreme gardening delusions that year…
This inefficient method would max out for me at 12 trays (1,536 plugs aka little baby plants).
This greenhouse, which is probably a joke to the big time farmers, can still hold at least 3x that, conservatively, which is 36 rows or 4,608 plugs.
4608 plugs, at 20% loss, 8 stems per plant, is 29,491 stems.
Obviously I have no way of processing nearly 30k stems, or even getting 4608 plugs into the ground. Or even just laying out the mulch for them on the ground!...
The next bottleneck is tractor attachments and barns / buildings to process produce .
So I’ll end my notes here before getting into the weeds of what is truly not possible at this point.
This little Grenhouse is a step that I am so PUMPED for.
Even if I grow the same 12 trays I did every other year, at least I don’t have to do it in a freaking basement like a plant obsessed psycho.
I hope you are entertained by the madness in reasoning how to grow a ton of flowers.
