LaTrenia Byrd McDaniel’s Thought for Today:
“Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” ~Corrie Ten Boom~
Scripture: “be unceasing and persistent in prayer.” ~1 Thessalonians 5:17, AMP~
The moral? In all my years of driving, I’ve never used a spare tire but the steering wheel, now that’s a different story. Vehicles have many important parts but the steering wheel directs a vehicle and without it, it’s nearly impossible to move. What’s more is that the steering wheel guides the vehicle in the right direction to prevent accidents and ensure arrival at a desired location. When I read the quote above I realized that prayer is meant to be life’s steering wheel. Prayer is a necessity that must be practiced daily because it allows God to lead us to our proper destinations. If we treat our prayer lives like a spare tire that we only turn to when we are in trouble or are unable to move forward, we can expect to feel stranded, overwhelmed, lost, and maybe even alone on a consistent basis.
Today’s challenge: Let your kneel be life’s steering wheel.
