Wednesday, September 2, 2026...So, for the second time this summer an Archie comic is my banner on this page. What's the deal, you say? Well, this week's ARCHIE #1 is the first from Oni Press. They will be the new home of Archie and the Riverdale gang, at least for now, though Archie Comics will continue to publish comics. Confused? Me too, but in the meanwhile you can check out this "new" ARCHIE, which is the first updating of the title since before the pandemic.

What else is new this week:

DC Comics and Marvel Comics have both released new series and specials. From DC comes BATMAN/ SUPERMAN/ WEIRD AL: WORLD'S WEIRDEST #1, DOOM PATROL #1, LEGION OF SUPERHEROES #1, SUPERMAN: THE STRANGER #1 (a Black Label title) and TEEN TITANS #1. Marvel brings us BLACK PANTHER/ NAMOR: DOOMED #1, DOCTOR STRANGE & DOCTOR DOOM: TRIUMPH & TORMENT #1 (reprinting a graphic novel from the 80s,) MARVEL MANGAVERSE: WEB OF BLOOD #1, MARVEL ZOMBIES: WAR ZONE #1, SPIDER-WOMAN 50TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL #1 (which is NOT a one-shot,) and X-MEN: OMEGA RED DAWN #1. Other first issues and specials include HELLRAISER: RESURRECTION #1 from Boom Studios, WARBIRD #1 from Bad Idea Comics, EC: CRUEL KINGDOM II #1 from Oni Press, CROWBOUND #! (by Jeff Lemire) and TALES OF WONDER #1 (by Steve Skroce) from Image Comics and SUPERNATURAL: WAYWARD SPECIAL #1 from Dynamite Entertainment.

New trades and graphic novels are very numerous this week, including three (!) new Batman titles and a FABLES Compact Edition from DC, titles featuring Fantastic Four and Ultimate Wolverine from Marvel, the FENCE OMNIBUS: BOOK ONE from Boom, a Twilight Zone collection and the collected TMNT X GODZILLZA from IDW, a G.I. JOE trade and the CUTTING GARDEN hardcover from Image and the RED SONJA VS. ARMY OF DARKNESS trade from DE. There's new Manga, including a new Junji Ito collection. Two things to check out; THE ANATOMY OF COMICS from Flammarion and MARVEL DIMENSIONS BY ALEX ROSS from Abrams Comicarts. Both are really well done.

Picture follow and I know we will see you soon.

Wednesday, August 26, 2026...Always when I do these posts, I feel rushed. Oh well, here goes:

New comics and graphic novels have arrived, and the New Arrivals menu board is chock full, so let's get to it. DC Comics begin the BAD SEEDS event in the Batman family of titles with a prologue in POISON IVY #47 and BATMAN: BAD SEEDS - SUNSET #1. There's also a Deadshot special with NEXT LEVEL: ONE-SHOT #1 and a new Vertigo title BLACK TOWER: THE RAVEN CONSPIRACY #1. Marvel Comics bring us two new books with WHAT IF...? X-MEN #1 and TOMB OF APOCALYPSE #1 (of 5.) But it's Image Comics that leads the pack with new releases with HAMMERFIST #1, M.A.S.K.: ORIGINS #1, ROM APECIAL #1 and WITCHBLADE/ VAMPIRELLA #1. Truly something for everyone there! Two other noteworthy releases are TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1 MIRAGE FACSIMILE DITION from IDW and STUFF OF NIGHTMARES: CAT IN THE COFFIN #1 from Boom Studios.

DC Comics lead the way with graphic novels, releasing new series volumes for ABSOLUTE MARTIAN MANHUNTER and FLASH as well as A new edition of BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN - LAST HALLOWEEN, Marvel bring us DAREDEVIL & PUNISHER: DEVIL'S TRIGGER and ALIEN VS. CAPTAIN AMERICA, The Last Ronin and the Last Ronin: The Lost Years are finally in trade paperback from IDW. There's a new AVATAR collection from Dark Horse Comics, and Image has a fourth (!) G.I. JOE: ARAH Compendium as well as a 7th volume for DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH.

As usual there are lots of Young Adult and Young Readers' titles, and maybe a few surprises you'll just have to come in and find. See you soon. Pictures follow...

Wednesday, August 19, 2026 (Part 2)...As promised here are the pictures. If they look strange, remember they were taken in partial darkness. Kind of atmospheric, don't you think.

Wednesday, August 19th, 2026...Well, that was interesting. We came to work yesterday, and the power was down for our building. I checked in and sorted comics in semi-darkness. Today could be fll of surprises...

Anyway, there are new comics to talk about. Marvel, DC and Image all sent lots. New titles this week include SPIDER-MAN/ HULK: FIRE & BRIMSTONE #1 (by Kevin Smith!) and WHAT ID...?RUNAWAYS #! from Marvel, BUG WARS: THE COMING OF WARDOOM #1 and THE LAST DRIVER #1 (by Sean Murphy) from Image Comics, and EC: SHELLSHOCK #1 from Oni Press. The rest are all installments of ongoing stories, but there are a lot of them. Chances are very good that something you follow is here today.

There are quite a number of new graphic novels as well. Marvel Sends us AVENGERS SECRET WARS in their affordable Marvel Premier Edition format. DC has new trades for BATMAN & SON (in the Compact format,) BATMAN/ SUPERMAN: WORLD'S FINEST Vol. 9, HARLEY & IVY: LIFE & CRIMES, and JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED Vol. 3: DC K.O. Tuesday, August 11th, 2026...Hey all. We are just finishing up here today, processing the new comics and graphic novels for tomorrow, so while it's fresh in my mind...

First off, on the banner this week are the variant covers for Archie Comics' facsimile edition of LAUGH #166 from 1965, which featured the Beatles on the cover. So, the variants just had to pay tribute to the Fab Four (I can't believe I just typed that.) Just so you know, the Beatles do not actually appear in the comic. If that disappoints you, imagine how I felt in 1965!

Anyway, let's talk about new comics...

New #1 issues this week include relaunches (MILES MORALES SPIDER-MAN #1 from Marvel, GARGOYLES #1 from Dynamite,) revisited franchises (GODZILLA MONSTERPIECE THEATRE PRESENTS ROAR OF THE WORLDS #1, STAR WARS: THE FALL OF KYLO REN #1, HELLO KITTY & FRIENDS: HELLO WORLD #1,) and some genuine new series (REGICIDE #1 from Image Comics, GASTRNOMIQUE #1 from Boom Studios, THE FOUNDRY #1 from Dark Horse Comics.) There's even a nice retcon title from DC, BATMAN & ROBIN: YEAR ONE - DYNAMIC DUOS #1. Also, look for tie-ins to Marvel's QUEEN IN BLACK event, three X-Men titles at once (four if you include WOLVERINE,) and hit titles TRANSFORMERS and ABSOLUTE BATMAN.

New graphic novels are heavy in Young Readers and Young Adult fare, some Manga, and new volumes for DC's SUPERMAN title (the "K.O." issues) and Marvel's ULTIMATES. A nice surprise is Insight Editions' new hardcover MARVEL: SPIDER-MAN - THE OFFICIAL COOKBOOK, and before you ask, yes, it does include Aunt May's famous wheatcakes.

So, let's all look at some pictures, and come in and check out some pretty cool comic books, okay? See you all soon.

Tuesday, August 4th, 2026...Tomorrow the world gets back a little normalcy with a Wednesday's worth of new comics that puts last week's meager output to shame. And with the regular four Wednesdays this month we can expect this bounty to continue. Hopefully.

New first issues and/ or specials this week are quite the contrast to last week also; none from DC Comics, but lots from Marvel. There's MARVEL RIVALS: THE ORIGINS OF THE HOOD #1, MARVEL TOKON: FIRST STRIKE #1, MARY JANE: FACE IT, TIGER #1, QUEEN IN BLACK: VENOM UNCHAINED #1 (racked right there next to this week's QUEEN IN BLACK #2,) WHAT IF...? CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 and X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE: OMEGA #1. Other firsts this week include MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: GENESIS #1 from Dark Horse Comics, FORT PSYCHO #1 from Oni Press, CHACHU #1, a new crime series from Image Comics, JUGHEAD: PIEMAGEDDON #1 from Archie Comics and comic scribe Tom King, and POWER RANGERS GREEN #1 from Boom Studios.

New trades and original graphic novels this week include two DC K.O. titles and two Teen Titans titles from DC, three new volumes of ongoing series from Image (GUNSINGER SPAWN, ROCKETFELLERS, UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY,) the first volume for NECTAR from Vault Comics, young readers' titles from both Penguin Books and Harper Collins (also a new Simpsons Comics Colossal Compendium from them,) and a new nonfiction title, ISLANDS IN THE SKY: A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF HURRICANE HELENE.

And, as always anymore, there are variant covers.

So, look at the pictures here, read those online reviews on your phone (or trust your own judgement if that's your thing) then come on in. It's a new world.
