More progress on the Detroit Stars Jr. project. The pickguard template has been made and a prototype cut. After a bunch of trial and error, making pickguard templates and custom pickguards from scratch is now a satisfying part of the build process.

Back in the shop after some road tripping. Following the steps in Dan Erlewine’s book on guitar finishing to do a variation on a TV yellow finish for this commission. Start with a white wash. The final color coat will be light gray, with a special piece of art on top.

The custom LP Jr project progresses. Added a German carve. I also put the pieces together to make sure the dogear pickup fit properly with the bridge and bolt-on neck. Miracles do happen. It worked! Now comes the hard part: A custom finish and a stencil. Stay tuned.
