It's Sunday, and it's already a sticky mess out there. Is it worth getting out and getting pastries, breads, donuts, and treats for the week ahead? Yes, it definitely is worth it. 😁

The cases are full again today and there's more gooey butters & peanut coffee cakes alongwith carrot cakes, cannolis, and cinnamon rolls......there will be weather for porch & patio sitting later this week. 😉

And if you remember our trip last fall when we flew to Baltimore, Maryland and drove the old National Road from the beginning in Cumberland, Maryland back home you'll recognize these great murals that I shared from Indiana. Earlier this week Cambridge City, Indiana (where these murals are located) and surrounding towns and counties were devastated by floods from the heavy rains that hit the area. The situation is improving and I've read the water has receded and the power is back on for most now. This is the epitome of small town USA and I'm positive they'll come back stronger.....and we'll be cheering them on and planning our next visit. 🥰

It's Saturday, the most delicious day of the weekend and the overcast sky is a nice break at the moment. 😉

All of the favorites are in the cases and there's even a new addition: peach tarts from Duke Bakery. Assorted artisan breads are on the rack and if you like croissants, we have your new favorite.....and they're available every weekend, too. 😁

Karen brought in assorted dishcloths in a variety of patterns and her packaging is just as adorable. There's also fresh PeConnie's, Aviston grown pecans, and a store full jams, baking mixes, sourdough starters, soups, and more ready and waiting.

And Fridays are going to be a little different now since Ezra starts PreK on Monday. He's been working with us at the mercantile & antique mall since he was just a few months old and has become a quite a businessman/greeter/cookie tester. Time sure does fly.....🙃

It's Sunday......and it's already muggy out there. 🌞

In today's water tower photo we've added our entry into The Great Bond County Food Trail....carrot cake, which is available every Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. It's become my family's favorite and here's a fun tip when adding it to the dessert table. If you cut each piece into three smaller pieces and tuck them inside mini muffin papers it not only jazzes up the table, it let's everyone enjoy the rich delicious cake just in smaller portions. 😉

There's also freshly made Marcoot ice cream in the parlor and an old train station step to use if you can't see the flavors. I'm not sure if I ever shared this, but the ice cream parlor was Mr. DeLaurenti's living room when he operated his general store here. 🥰
Birthday cake, butter brickle, cookies & cream, vanilla, and orange sherbet are ready and waiting and you can get two scoops of vanilla and pair it with any soda from the wall and create your own ice cream float.......the possibilities are endless. 😁

It's Saturday, the most delicious day of the weekend. 😊

All three bakeries are in cases, the pies & dessert cakes are stacked high, and the bread rack is bursting with all of the foccocia and sourdough staples.....the aroma in the mercantile is absolutely delightful. 😉

Soaps, brooms, Long Bears, tallow lotions, kitchen towels, and more are available every weekend year round and in case you missed the post on Tuesday, fall items will arrive the first weekend in September......so many wonderful things and you're going to love it. 🙃

Our 2oz. Ronnoco coffee varieties are still 3/$5 and you may just find a new favorite, and there's plenty of pickled small beets in stock again, too.

And today we're kicking off our item for The Great Bond County Food Trail. What better choice than carrot cake from the Bakehouse which has been a customer favorite since November 2018. Our carrot cake is a deeply moist spice cake packed with freshly grated carrots, pineapple, raisins, walnuts, and warm notes of cinnamon topped with a layer of sweet cream cheese icing.......perfect anytime.
The trail event runs through the month of August and you can enter the drawing for great prizes by scanning the QR Code and voting for your favorite(s). If you don't want to vote, just visit the places on the map, enjoy their entries, and support local busineeses.....that's what it's all about. 🥰

It's Sunday and it's a little cloudy & breezy at the moment.....a tiny taste of fall. 🙃

As we like to say, it's the day to wind down from the weekend and prepare for the week ahead......with donuts, pastries, gooey butter cakes, and so much more. The cases are full, the soup and pasta section is stocked, and there's plenty of jams & jellies to pair deliciously with any cracker, toast, bagel, and bread. 😉

And speaking of fall, Taylor dropped a few new tshirts styles that are available now and here's a peek at some of Sue's primitive inspired pieces that are patiently waiting in the store room until their big reveal on September 1. 🎃

It's the first day August and the most delicious day of weekend....what a great combination. 😉

The cases are full and the bread rack is bursting with the good stuff.....and what better way to enjoy a dreary day than with delightful treats. 😁

Now that August is here that means our summer displays are winding down and we're preparing for the annual changeover for the first weekend in September.....and just wait until you see what's filling the store.
I took the photos this morning so everyone can plan their August shopping lists and also so I can figure out where to put all of the new products.......which my favorite thing to do. 🙃

Grab your umbrella and sunglasses because who really knows what the weather will be today.
