It's Sunday and overcast at the moment but the sun will be out later and the temperature an enjoyable 88°.......fingers crossed. 🤞

The cases are full again and we're making a note to order more macarons next week......they were the most popular item yesterday. 😉

A few new jams are on the shelf and just because it's labeled Frog & Bear jams doesn't mean it's made from frogs & bears. 🙃

Jan has a delightful variety of fall scented candles that pair perfectly with our autumn matchboxes. There's new scents of goat milk soaps from New Direction, too. 🥰

Kaylene added another piece to her wool felted assortment and these owls are so amazing you have to check them out.
I keep refilling Sue's primitives so it's been ever changing this weekend.....I keep picking a different favorite with each delivery. 😁

Outside the the colors of cockscomb, asters, and mums are just what we need now to get in the fall spirit and replace the sad plants that didn't make it through the heat wave.....I'm sure we all have a few. 😬
All plants are just $8 each.

With rearranging everything this past week the cigar store Indian has a new place to stand and you can sit at the table and snack with him now....he's definitely blocking the street view though.

And this weekend we've been giving away flags or canvas totes with every purchase over $45 and both items are equally popular, men like the flags & women like the totes.

It's Saturday, the most delicious day of the weekend.....and another toasty one out there. 🙃

The cases are full, there's blackberry macarons, and there's even red, white, & blue sprinkles on the donuts in celebration of Labor Day weekend. 🇺🇸

On the mercantile side we've added new cutting board mats that pair perfectly with cookie mixes & cookie cutters. There's also assortment of paper placemats that will class up any luncheon or dinner even if you don't have company.....you deserve to be a little fancy for yourself, too. 😊

And outside there's mums of all colors, purple asters, assorted cockscomb, and purple fountain grass all just $8 each......because the weather will break soon and you'll want fall on your porch. 🍂🍁🍂

There's more than three reasons to come to Pocahontas today. 🍁🍂🍁

The store is ready for fall and filled with so many new items, seasonal soaps & candles are arriving this afternoon, and beautiful mums, celosia, purple fountain grass, and asters just delivered.

And this is what determination looks like......because between the weather being brutal, the air conditioner going out here yesterday (huge thanks to Greg's for rescuing us), a few last minute packaging items being lost by Amazon, and Don's inner ear infection, we still pulled it off.


We're here until just 4pm so we can go check out the Hobnob Market at the Effingham County Fairgrounds, and regular hours Saturday & Sunday. 😉

Fall starts this weekend at the mercantile both inside and outside.
Fresh mums, fountain grass, celosia, and aster will be on the side of the Sweet Shoppe in the shade and practically every display inside will be filled with great new local, handmade, or delicious products.......all made proudly in the USA.

It's Sunday, and you need to plan accordingly for the forecasted hot, hot, hot week ahead. 🙃

Sunday donuts, angel food cakes, pies, and danish are in the cases. On the bread rack there's half loaves of cinnamon raisin & cranberry walnut and trios of buttery croissants which all great for breakfast or paired with your favorite meats, cheeses, and jams......the possibilities are endless. 😉

More varieties of handmade black cats have arrived and by Friday the entire mercantile will be filled with fall and you'll be able to see the entire ghost & black cat menagerie.....and I'll share some sneak peeks throughout the week. 🍂🐈‍⬛️👻🍁🍂

And last night's date, courtesy of Megan, was tickets to see Lionel Richie at The Muny and he was great, just like I knew he would be.....we're all a little older now.
We don't go to St. Louis very often and Forest Park in the evening is such a beautiful place.
I wish Don would have slowed down just a little when we were leaving so I could take in the nostalgia from the remnants of 1904 greatest World's Fair ever and channel my inner Judy Garland as Esther Smith in my favorite movie Meet Me in St. Louis "right here in our own backyard, right here in St. Louis".....definitely next time. 🥰

It's Saturday, the most delicious day of the weekend and there's over 50 reasons why we always say that. 🙃

Croughnuts, donuts, danish, brownies, cannolis, assorted cakes, macarons, cream horns, cookies, and more are ready and waiting.

If you're looking for an all natural bug repellent for those evenings outside we offer a great one that's lemon scented and honestly keep those pesky mosquitoes away.....we keep a bottle handy at home and it never fails.
I've also started using the whipped beef tallow and I'm a believer in that as well. 😉

And we're closing at 4pm at the mercantile and the antique mall and heading to the big city for an exciting date night courtesy of Ezra's mom Megan ....... just wait until you find out where we're going. 🥰
