The Museum shop has a variety of very informative books on the importance of ships and shipbuilding to life on the Delmarva Peninsula. The shipping industry on Delmarva was a banner industry with as many as 125 yards scattered across the Peninsula by the year 1900. Come visit us and learn more about the importance of ship building to the area and take a book home!

Two great cookbooks are available at the museum shop

My Favorite Maryland Recipes blends traditional local favorites and more elegant dishes - developed by Helen Tawes, Crisfield born and raised, many learned at her mother’s elbow and in the statehouse as wife to Maryland Governor Tawes. In publishing these amazing local dishes, Mrs Tawes wishes her readers “much joy in eating.”

Mrs Kitching’s Smith Island Cookbook is not a typical regional cookbook. It blends family recipes handed down in the oral tradition with lore of the remote island and photographs of the colorful island the authors called home.
