The Art's temperature regulator is much more than a "thermostat" --The system controls temperature in the entire cooling system, where a traditional thermostat heats the water in the engine, and when the thermostat opens, it throws cold water at a hot engine.----imagine how long your headers would stay in good condition if you sprayed them with cold water every time you shut your engine off---that is an exaggeration of the condition, but does illustrate the effect
