Charlie's talk will cover history of bowls in society in terms of functional use and the challenge of acceptance as an art form. Discussion will further cover the role of planning and design, artistic balance of form and color, construction and machining, and finishing and presentation. The discussion will briefly cover bowls making from solid wood but focus on using many pieces of wood to make a bowl. The program will include visual examples of segmented wooden bowls.
