IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING CLOTHING & TEXTILE DONATIONS
After five years of textile recycling, Renewed Thrift Store is having to make a difficult change.
For years, we have accepted clothing and textiles that couldn’t be sold because we believed that if there was a way to keep them out of the landfill, we wanted to do it.
Together, we have kept more than 300,000 pounds of clothing and textiles out of the landfill! ❤️ That’s something our entire community should be proud of.
Behind the scenes, this has required an enormous amount of work and expense. Justin and Crystal have personally transported loads of up to 14,000 pounds at a time to Texas, requiring extensive planning, fuel, equipment, travel expenses, babysitters for their children, and time away from home.
Unfortunately, with rising fuel and transportation costs and limited resources, we can no longer sustain our textile recycling program.
Going forward, Renewed will only be able to accept lightly used clothing and items that can be worn, sold, or given directly back to someone in our community.
We can no longer accept stained, ripped, torn, heavily worn, or odorous clothing; damaged blankets, throws or comforters; pillows and body pillows; oversized bedding/textiles; stuffed animals; or items with mildew, pet damage, or strong odors.
A simple rule: If you wouldn’t feel comfortable giving the item directly to another family to use, please don’t leave it at Renewed.
We have explored partnerships with other ministries, recycling organizations, and disaster-relief efforts, but there simply isn’t enough immediate demand or affordable transportation for us to continue storing these materials.
We are working on ideas to recirculate some of our clothing overflow back into the community at extremely affordable prices and will share more once we work through the logistics.

More than 300,000 pounds kept out of the landfill is something worth celebrating. We are incredibly grateful we were able to provide this resource for as long as we did.
This isn’t the end of Renewed helping our community. It simply means we have to steward our resources wisely so we can continue doing what God has called us to do.
