Thanks to everyone who joined us at the Port Angeles Main Library on Saturday for the Magic: The Gathering Draft Tournament.

Players in grades 4–12 got the full tournament experience, with timed rounds, scheduled pairings, and prizes for the top finishers.

For anyone unfamiliar with draft, players open booster packs, choose cards as they’re passed around the table, then build a deck from what they picked. Everyone kept the deck they drafted.

I also want to thank the North Olympic Library Systemfor inviting Anime Kat to help with the event. The library has been building a regular Magic community through its weekly Magic Monday program, and it was fun getting to bring a more structured tournament experience into that space.

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration releases tomorrow!

Anime Kat's release time will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 16.

Unlike a normal Pokémon release, this product is being shipped under a release-day schedule, meaning our shipment isn't allowed to arrive before release day. We'll be waiting for UPS right along with everyone else tomorrow morning!

Setting our release for 3 PM gives the shipment time to arrive and gives us time to receive and check everything in before sales begin.

Thanks to everyone who came out last Friday before the holiday weekend for Magic Presents: Heart of the Mountain!

This one was a Commander event with a twist. The Arkenstone could change hands during the game, and holding onto it long enough could win the whole table.

It made for some fun games and gave everyone at the table one more reason to pay attention to who was attacking whom.

Everyone went home with a booster pack, and each pod winner also picked up a Promo Pack.

We’ll keep mixing in Commander events like this alongside our regular Magic schedule. Commander events are typically on Sundays.

Before we even opened for the day, Anime Kat started early working on the Squatchcon Comic & Arts Convention. 👣

We had a Squatchcon meeting here this morning. People working on different parts of the convention got together to compare notes and work through what needs to happen next.

Anime Kat is proud to sponsor Squatchcon, and we’re glad we can help by making space for meetings like this.

There’s still a lot to do, but it’s fun watching the next Squatchcon start to take shape.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for The Hobbit prerelease this weekend.

It was great seeing everyone get their hands on the new set and start playing with it.

Prerelease weekend is one of my favorite Magic events at Anime Kat. I like seeing everyone open the new set at the same time and start discovering what actually works.

If you missed prerelease, we’re not done with The Hobbit yet. Our release draft is this Friday, so there’s another chance to sit down and play with the new set.

We’ve also got The Hobbit singles in the binder if you’re working on a deck or just looking for a favorite card.

The Hobbit prerelease weekend is underway, and we’ve got singles from the set in the binder.

We pulled the foil The One Ring pictured here, along with Smaug the Magnificent, Bilbo, Thief in the Night, Gandalf, Goblins’ Bane, Thorin, Mountain-king, Orcrist, Goblin-cleaver, and Gleaming Splendor.

Looking for Commander pieces? Orcrist has a home in typal decks, Thorin gives Equipment decks something new to play with, and Gleaming Splendor is one of the cards getting attention out of the set.

Or maybe you just want Bilbo, Gandalf, Smaug, or a cool version of a card from The Hobbit. That works too.

The binder has more rares, mythics, foils, showcase cards, borderless cards, and other singles from the set.

Yesterday's Magic: The Gathering Marvel Super Heroes Prerelease brought together players for the first chance to crack packs, build decks, and battle with cards from Magic's newest set.

Thanks to everyone who joined us, and congrats to Miles W. for taking first place and claiming the Prerelease victory!

Marvel Super Heroes is now officially here, bringing Marvel characters into Magic: The Gathering.

If you missed yesterday's event, there's still time to join the fun. Our Two Headed Giant Prerelease takes place today, Saturday, at 1:00 PM. Grab a teammate or find one here to experience the set together.
