We are a community oriented general interest bookstore featuring one of the largest magazine selections in the Western U.S., over 75,000 new and used books, maps, greeting cards, and other book related items. We also have an active reading series with 2-3 nationally recognized author appearances per month. We buy, sell or trade for used books, fulfill most special orders in 1 or 2 days and can search for out of print books.

Hi Friends!

Several weeks ago, Olympic Angels brought us 30 copies of Claudia Rowe's "Wards of the State: The Long Shadow of American Foster Care" to distribute to our community for free with the goal of spreading awareness about the state of the foster care system and its impact on our community.

Now Olympic Angels will host an event featuring author Claudia Rowe, to meet and discuss the book and foster care in our community.

Tomorrow morning, our own Steven Pate heads out to the Lyre with North Olympic Land Trust — and you're invited.

Steven, along with , will lead a nature journaling stroll through the Lyre Conservation Area: an open field, shady forest, a creek you can hear but can't see, and the beach where the river empties into the Strait.

At each stop you learn a simple tool for paying closer attention and take a few minutes to try it on the page of your journal.

We like to wander about our magnificent wilderness, find interesting blossoms and leaves (and a four leaf clover if we are very lucky), and bring them home to press in our flower press. A bit of summer saved for the rest of the year.

Hello Friends!

A new week, a new stack of fresh books for your reading pleasure.

Special mentions this week are:

-'Sea of Charms' by Sarah Beth Durst, the third installment in her cozy romantasy series. This is an amazing vacation book (as are the previous two). You can begin with any book in this series, but if you read them in publication order the way we like to, you will find little easter eggs about the other characters from the previous books.

-'Pokecology: An Illustrated Guide to Pokemon Ecology' is the perfect book for the Pokemon lover in your life.

Lands and Letters is back!

Twenty of you filled the Land Trust's front room in May for 'Seabirds as Sentinels' — and your surveys said, nearly unanimously, keep going. So the Lands and Letters Book Club continues, on a quarterly rhythm now.

Our next books is 'In Trees' by Robert Moor, the writer behind 'On Trails'.
'In Trees' came out in April, and its author lives just across the water in B.C. — closer to Port Angeles than to Seattle, as the raven flies.

We'll meet to talk about it Thursday, September 10 at 5:30 PM at the North Olympic Land Trust office. Note the new, earlier start — and mark January 14 for the winter meeting while you're at it.

The following Thursday too: Robert Moor is coming to the Dungeness River Nature Center on September 17. Details soon — but if you're reading 'In Trees' with us on the 10th, you'll want to be in the room on the 17th.

Pick up the book at the shop and mention Lands and Letters at the counter: 20% of the sale goes to the Land Trust.

Hi Friends!

With all the chaos the world can bring, we appreciate certain things that do not change and anchor us in the present. Every Tuesday, new books come out. EVERY Tuesday. It's a special thing to know you will always have something to look forward to on at least one day of the week. 😄

Special mentions this week are:

-'Cool Machine' by Colson Whitehead is the final installment of his Harlem crime trilogy. It's filled with heists and nostalgia for 1980's New York.

-'Haunted Playground' by R.J. Palacio and Brett Helquist is a wonderfully charming children's picture book. "It's midnight on Hallow's Eve, and the ghosts have come out to play. The only rule: NO CHILDREN ALLOWED." Of course, two human children stumble upon the Haunted Playground and spooky fun ensues.

Hello Friends!

Tuesday has found us once more with a lovely selection of new release books!

Special mention this week goes to 'Dragon Has Some Complaints' by John Wiswell.
This is the tale of a three-headed dragon (formerly four-headed) who sneaks into a dragon rider academy, pretending to be a tame dragon for the free room and board, and finds friendship and adventure there. In this cozy fantasy novel intertwined with epic battles and found family, Wiswell once again provides a unique perspective on what it means to be a "monster".
