M A Hadley Pottery
Lousville, Ky
My favorite handpainted pottery
Fun, warm, whimsical, childlike
primitive drawings like pigs, cows, trees, usually in blue but other colors also
bottom of coffee cups – "All Gone"
She signed all pottery M. A. Hadley
Dishes came in every piece you could want – even serving peices
You can't help but be in a good mood when usig these dishes
Mary Alice Hadley – real name
Started in the early 1930's making dishes for her houseboat
everyone loved her handpainted pottery dishes – started a business
1940 her husband George Hadley formed Hadley Pottery Company
1944 her husband purchased a building in Louisville as a birthday present
The buisness grew very fast and was taking orders from all over United States
Mary Alice worked at pottery until her death in 1965
Husband ran business until he sold it in 1979 to two a people in Louisville.
Since then all pottery is signed "Louisville Pottery"
but still handpainted and in Mary Alices type of painting
You still can see examples of Mary Alices pottery and murals she painted
original building of her pottery
Very collectiable – but affordable
I feel Mary Alice in every piece
