Alder and Finch

Alder and Finch Alder & Finch produces fine art watercolor paintings and products. Alder and Finch was born during the pandemic the same time my first son was born.

During an isolating time and struggling with postpartum depression, I started painting again. I created the Etsy shop to give me a purpose outside of being a healing mother. While laying on the floor with my son doing tummy time, I watched a small yellow and black finch among the alder branches through the living room windows and that’s how the business was named. I started with digital downloads

and have expanded into art prints and selling my original watercolors. I love the fluidity of watercolor and how it can be mixed with other mediums. I’m inspired by my beautiful surroundings of the Pacific Northwest West in the US and am based in a small town outside of Seattle, WA somewhere in the woods.

It’s not too late for me. It’s not too late for you either.

I would not be the artist I am today without my diverse experiences and perspective. My career taught me how to build a website, create my branding, take tough feedback, digitally process paintings, and feel confident at in-person markets (thanks college retail job!).

I might be just getting started, but I finally have the courage to go after my dreams. No more regrets!

This type of painting takes me 36 hours to complete without filming. I don’t even want to think about how long it takes with filming 😫

I don’t ship fully framed paintings from my website and they’re the same price in-person as they are online. It’s my thank you for not having all the shipping headaches of fragile art 😅

In between my full time software design job, juggling a bustling family life with my 2 kids, and finding time to paint, I’m also working really hard on prepping for some upcoming holiday markets. It’s been busy but Alder and Finch is a labor of love! It’s provided purpose, healing, and a reason to stay accountable and create! I can’t wait to meet people in person and share my art. I’m at that age I’d rather go to a tulip festival than a music festival. Finding inspiration and even snuck in a quick 15 min sketch while the kids watched mommy paint. Didn’t last long though 😆🤷🏻‍♀️
