Just in time for Christmas 🎄 ❤️ This memory bear was made from a loved one’s shirt. I had to add a small amount of material to the front but added a heart from the scrap fabric. I love these being surprises and some of the stories that come from different memory projects. I had a short detour to work on something for a personal Christmas gift but that will be finished tomorrow and then I will hit heavy with tow tshirt lap quilts. The tshirts have been cut but I need to lay out all the pieces, see what fits where and see where I need to trim any.

Had a bit of trouble finding the right shade for the belt loop. However my customer ensured me these pants were for “around the house” so it was ok to go with the shade I was able to secure from a local source. With that info, I created a new belt loop! It’s not shown but I also repaired a few tiny holes in the back (I forgot to grab a pic of that). I thought I broke the needle hemming another pair of pants but thankfully the needle just slipped out. It was tough to get out though being in the thickest part of the seam, so pliers to the rescue!

I do minor/simple alterations. This morning included hemming some dress pants. Because irons can be finicky, as a standard practice I started using a sheet of teflon a good while back to cover the clothing item I’m pressing. Irons can transfer this shimmery stuff on to fabric even though it’s clean. And for things like cotton that need a higher heat setting, or polyester that needs a lower heat setting, it’s best to protect the garments you’re working with! Cue the last pic where I adjusted the stitch settings for the blond hem stitch I was doing.

I love a good organization project! I glued these straws at lunch and they were dry by the time I got home. Not perfect but perfect for me ❤️ Now my thread doesn’t roll around when I open the drawers.

I’ve been away for about a year but as soon as I finish up a few projects I’m already committed to, I’ll be opening up for more custom work! I will also be listing some items from last year at really reduced prices (made a lot for a show and it was pouring rain that morning so I never set up). Between school, mom duties, second job and my main job I’ve been whooped. Though I’m excited to start creating for others again! Just wish school was out of the way due to time constraints!

Take 2 🤦‍♀️. I stitched 40+ last week and the particular stitch I used on my regular sewing machine was making them come undone. I re-stitched them on my serger during lunch yesterday and cut/inserted elastics into about half at lunch today. I accidentally left my elastic inserter AND safety pins at home (either can be used) so instead I had those small dowel rods in my car that are for a display stand and used one of them yesterday for turning scrunchie tubes inside out and today cut a little notch at the end so it holds the elastic while feeding through. Makes the process go much quicker. ❤️😄 Now to finish these asap! More to create!

Mostly for scrunchies but I will take the white and Buffalo plaid and use some for headbands (larger cuts of each of these). And if there’s ever only half a yard or less remaining after what I requested - I save it from getting sent from the remnant section!! 😂 🙌 Fabric is no where as cheap as it used to be so I try and catch what I can on clearance and the other times I wait for 40% off deals.
