NEW! Antonio Ziranda has done a beautiful interpretation of a circa 1910 Manual Arts Studio vase. The Manual Arts Studio was located in the backyard of none other than Ernest A. Batcheldor, Pasadena, California.

The Studio was part of the distinctive Californa-style Arts and Crafts movement and was a direct pushback against mass industrialization and factory manufacturing, also known as “Hand, Head, and Heart”. This philosophy believed that everyday functional objects should also be beautiful, individual pieces of art. This style features bold, simple shapes and included motifs such as floral accents and patterns inspired by plants and nature.

Our new plate was inspired by the Handicraft Guild of Minneapolis (1904-1918). The Guild was founded, led and staffed primarily by women making it historically significant to the women’s arts movement nationwide. The Guild was a training studio for many aspiring artists in the city.

This hand-hammered copper sculptural object has been beautifully crafted by Master Smith Antonio Ziranda. The spiral design was inspired by a fern. ######x
