The Bivittatum Killi (Aphyosemion bivittatum) is a small killifish from the Lagos region of West Africa. Males develop bright orange and red tinted fins that really stand out, especially when they're displaying to each other.

Despite their appearance, they're relatively peaceful fish and do well in planted aquariums with plenty of cover. Like many killifish, they appreciate calm water and a little patience while they settle in.

A great reminder that some of the most colorful fish in the hobby stay under a few inches long.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the late post, was having major computer issues today and couldn't get out the video we wanted to post. Hopefully by tomorrow we'll be back to the usual content!

In the mean time here's a few pictures of some really nice Red Oscars "Astronotus ocellatus" for you to enjoy.

The middle one that looks like it's screaming is how I looked at my computer today.....

Just a neat catfish from Peru today.

The Bumblebee Jelly Catfish, Batrochoglanis cf. raninus, is an ambush predator that prefers to wait for food rather than chase it. Their chunky build and bumblebee-like markings make them stand out from the usual catfish we see in the hobby.

A species you don't come across every day.

The Gold Spotted Knife, Papyrocranus afer, looks like something straight out of another world. With its long flowing body and scattered gold spots, it has a look that is completely different from almost anything else in the hobby.

Native to slow-moving waters in Central Africa, Papyrocranus afer uses a specialized electric sense to navigate and find food, even in murky conditions. It is a peaceful fish, but one that definitely stands out wherever it goes.

Some fish catch your eye. This one makes you do a double take.

You do not see Green Dwarf Distichodus, Distichodus teugelsi, very often, which is probably part of why people end up loving them so much.
They have this clean green and gold color that looks awesome once the light hits them right, and they never seem to sit still for long.

Unlike many larger Distichodus species, Distichodus teugelsi stays much more manageable, which makes them a cool option for hobbyists who want something uncommon without needing a monster setup.

They are active swimmers, curious eaters, and always seem to be exploring every corner of the aquarium.

Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day from everyone at The Wet Spot. May we never forget our fallen heroes' service and sacrifice.

Just a reminder that we’ll be closing early today at 4PM so our staff can spend time with friends and family.

We’ve also got a fish transfer heading to the store today featuring some absolutely gorgeous beauties; the “Pink Lemonade Tetra” (Hyphessobrycon itaparicensis)! These vibrant little tetras are as cheerful as their name suggests, and we only have a small handful available.

They’re STORE ONLY for now, so if you’ve been wanting something rare and eye-catching for your aquarium, swing by and check them out before they’re gone!

Picking a favorite between the Red Turquoise Discus and the White Butterfly Discus (Symphysodon aequifasciatus) is basically impossible, so we decided to just show them off together.

One is covered in electric blue lines and deep red colors, while the other has this super bright clean look that almost glows in the tank. Completely different styles, but both somehow become the center of attention the second you see them.

These are the kinds of fish that make people suddenly understand why discus keepers are so obsessed with discus.
