We’ve got some new (to us) sweet pea varieties blooming on the farm, and it’s so fun to walk the rows and discover new colors and fragrances. I’ve been trying to capture them in the early morning light to get their coloring just right. We can’t wait to see how they do with seed production.

June is the month when sweet peas grow like crazy here in the Pacific Northwest, especially if we get some rain and cool temperatures. Our weekly to-do list includes tying them up to keep the stems from flopping and breaking, weeding, and keeping them well watered.

Which one’s your favorite?

A few of my favorite flower bouquets from the last few seasons 🌸

There’s not much blooming on the farm right now (besides the sweet peas), and as tempting as it is to cut them, I’m trying to save as many flowers as possible for seed production 🫣

Normally June is when the perennial flowers and biennials really start to shine. But truthfully, we haven’t planted many. Every square foot seems to get claimed by dahlias, sweet peas, seed crops, or whatever experiment I’ve convinced myself is a good idea this year.

So for now, I’m looking back through old bouquet photos and some of my favorite cut flower bouquets while patiently waiting for the next wave of summer flowers to bloom. The flowers are coming… just not quite yet.

P.s. thought I should put in this disclaimer: the “cone” type thing in the second picture is horse tail grass (amazing herb) but highly invasive. It’s too late for my property but don’t spread it around on yours or others.

This audio 📣 made me cackle 🤣 I had to.

And if I do see people, I probably just want to talk about flowers 🌸

Sweet pea planting is in full swing on the farm 🌱 The goal is to get the rest of the plants out by the end of this week (much later than I originally planned, but farming depends on the weather 😅).

I can’t wait to see them bloom again 🌸 Soon we’ll be tying up the rows each week and fertilizing.

They’re a lot of work, but so worth it!

Fingers crossed for a good seed season 🤞✨

Taking in a deep breath of spring air 😮‍💨 we’ve mostly made it thru the rainy season and I couldn’t be happier. 💕 I love to forage around our property to find little bits and pieces to add to bouquets. This one features tulips, anemones, horsetail grass and alder tree branches. 💐
