Our rad little buddy Mira making some magic with her new trailer set by 🌈 Mira mixed in some more fun “loose parts” from Made You Look - subbing in wooden trees as people & creating custom bedspreads with felt and stickers! A+ Mira! 👏🏽
Thank you for sharing - getting to see how all the kiddos get creative is the best! ✨
PS: Have you heard of “loose parts play?” 👩🏽🏫 Loose parts are just about anything: measuring spoons, pinecones, colorful tiny little pom-poms, acorns, empty travel-sized shampoo bottles, cotton balls… you name it! Loose parts are open-ended - they encourage kids to think, play, and get creative (instead of toys with specific directions or a singular purpose). 🦕
A British painter & sculptor named Simon Nicholson coined the term “loose parts” in 1971 for materials that can be moved around, repurposed, and reimagined into anything a child can imagine. Nicholson believed that the loose parts in our environment are what inspire and empower our creativity. 👩🏽🎨
Grab a few little collections of interesting odds & ends and leave them out for your kiddo!
