We love it when our wonderful customers share such beautiful stories with us. It means a lot! This is not the first time our Organic Rose Water has brought about some nostalgic connections to their treasured loved ones. Have a read of this special story....
"I really do love your product. This may be more than you want, but there is a "story" behind my love of rose water. My Mamaw Ella was one of the most beautiful women I know. She lived in a little place called Blackwater, Tennessee. Their house was so old that when they added "indoor plumbing" it was actually half of the back porch. I remember watching her take something off the window sill of the bathroom and pouring some of it out on a "wash cloth" - then wiping it over her face. There was a faint aroma of roses, but I was young and thought maybe her "face stuff" was supposed to smell like that. One of the rules for visiting grandparents was "do not prowl", so it never occurred to me to check the label, so one evening when Mamaw and I were in her garden I asked her what she rubbed on her face to make herself look so pretty (I was probably 10 years old). I will never forget. She raised up and looked and me and laughed. She said "Honey, down here on Blackwater there's not a whole lot of things I can do. But I CAN use my Pond's cold cream and rose water every day." I will never, ever forget that. One of my first purchases was Pond's cold cream - I had to wait a while to buy rose water (not available in my little town of Church Hill). BUT I saved my money and rode the bus to "town" - Kingsport, which is about 20 miles away. I went into the "big" drug store to buy my rose water. And I couldn't find it! So I went to the pharmacist's counter in the back and asked "the man" where I could find rose water. He laughed and said "Honey, you're about 20 years too late for that". I was devastated! When I got home I asked Mama what was so special about rose water - and she didn't laugh. She loved "healing with nature" and using products that were pure and simple - so she told me the history of rose water, what properties it had, and why it would be a good thing to use. Mama was the one who told me to buy glycerin and rose water separately and mix it the way I wanted to. So, that was over 40 years ago and I still use one of Mamaw's beauty secrets - rose water. Pond's cold cream did not stand the test of time with me. But rose water - it takes me back to a pure and simple day I shared with my Mamaw Ella. Again, I thank you for making such a beautiful product. Janet
