Jodi Lorimer - Author Based on a 15th century French faerie tale, this is the story of Melusine, a water faerie who commits the ultimate sin by marrying a human. Yet still they try.

A 35 year resident of Portland, Oregon I was born and raised in the Gold Country of California. This is my second book. The first, a very different read, traces the origin, in my opinion, of the labyrinth as an archetypal symbol of compelling power, as having originated with the first modern humans who understood the concept of metaphor. With that in mind and heart in art, they painted spectacular

imaged deep in the labyrinthine caves of France. The spiritual journey of the labyrinth is a driving force in this new book; the necessity of discovering and confronting one's true self, despite the cost. To say it is a Faerie tale doesn't do it justice. These beings are as far from Tinkerbell as I could manage to get. Faeries with both cojones, if you will, and serious faults. Mythologically, faeries and humans embody the failings and wish fulfillments of each other and combining them into one, integrated being has never been possible and always forbidden. The attraction is undeniable. Writing this book has been a joy, particularly now during this time of great anxiety and turmoil in our nation. Defining what a hero must be brings humanity into high resolution, with faith in oneself and courage being the two most significant components. I am currently at work on book two, which will revisit the high civilization of Arabic Spain against the unspoken backdrop of current racial and religious tensions; Arab Muslims and Christians, faeries and djins. I am a member of the board of directors of the international organization, The Labyrinth Society, acting as the Education Outreach Chair. I am gratefully indebted to many creative, dedicated and open-hearted labyrinthians in TLS who have guided and encouraged me and, most importantly, made me laugh.
