At our Taste for Freedom evening, this companion was used alongside the four cups to frame each moment as part of a reflective journey - not just something we move through, but something we step into with greater depth and context.

Each cup carried a distinct focus: becoming present, understanding where we’ve come from, recognizing gratitude and purpose, and turning toward the future.

Four Cups, Four Insights

Last night at the Jewish Oasis, we gathered to explore a new depth of the four cups of the Seder and prepare for Passover in a meaningful way. Sommelier Michael Perman introduced four premium kosher wines, guiding us through a tasting experience that mirrored the journey of the Seder.

Each wine was paired with an insight from Rabbi Motti Wilhelm, reflecting the stages of the four cups:

1. Where are we now?
2. Where have we come?
3. Celebrating growth
4. Looking toward the future

Guests savored each wine, connected to the flavor and inspiration of each cup, and experienced the Seder in a fresh, personal way. The evening was warm, inviting, and thoughtful - a chance to taste, reflect, and step into Passover with greater understanding and presence.

Join us for a unique Pre-Passover Wine Experience exploring the deeper meaning of freedom through a curated tasting of premium kosher wines.

Each cup will be paired with a short insight on the Four Cups of the Passover Seder, revealing powerful ideas about personal freedom and redemption as we prepare for Pesach.

The evening will be guided by Rabbi Motti Wilhelm - Portland-based rabbi, Times of Israel contributor, and chair of the opening session at this year’s International Chabad Conference.

This Purim, 75+ seniors across Portland heard the Megillah and celebrated the mitzvot of Purim through the initiative of Chabad Southwest Portland, with the assistance of Jewish Oasis.

Rabbinical students visited seven senior centers across Portland and made multiple personal visits to the homebound.

Senior centers visited included Raleigh Hills Assisted Living, Cedar Sinai Park, Rose Schnitzer Manor, Robison Jewish Health Center, West Hills Assisted Living, Alpine House Senior Care, The Watermark, and Terwilliger Plaza.

Together they were able to reach seniors who otherwise would not have been able to hear the Megillah.

Thank you to the Robison Foundation for helping fund this initiative and the rabbinical students who helped make these visits possible.

What an incredible Purim at the Jewish Oasis!

Our Kosher Deli Purim event was completely SOLD OUT, and the energy was amazing from start to finish. From the Megillah reading to the great food and joyful atmosphere, it was truly a night to remember.

A big thank you to Chef Tim Keller for the delicious deli sandwiches that everyone loved, and to Hillel Peterson for bringing so much energy to the Megillah reading.

Thank you as well to our generous sponsors and the amazing rabbinical students who helped bring the spirit and excitement of Purim to life.

It was so special celebrating together with all of you. We can’t wait to see you again soon!
