Sometimes I list something and just become totally obsessed with it in the process, and this is one of those things! It's a demitasse Chubu China saucer handmade in occupied Japan between 1947 and 1952. The intricate raised details are created by piping the clay onto the plate and then gilding it with gold, making it absolutely shine when it catches the light. I wish I had the cup to go with it, but I just know there's a lonely cup out there waiting for its saucer mate!

This sweet funny handmade creature would have certainly ended up in the landfill, but instead he's someone's new favorite bunny! This is one of the most rewarding parts of selling items. I get to make my buyers happy, rescue treasures, and quietly rebel against new item consumerism!

PINK BOOKS!! I definitely had to look through a lot of black and white and blue books to find these, and at first I thought I was only going to find one, but then I found four! I definitely paid more than I usually would for a couple of these, but it was worth it.

I think these would look so adorable in a pink-themed bedroom or used as a pop of color in a primarily black and white decorating scheme. I always think of bright pink as being very modern and stylish.

I wonder if people would be interested in stacks featuring kid-friendly books? A couple of these are from the young adult section, but I'll bet actual children's hardback books in certain colors would be really hard to find. 🤔 Pink children's books would be so pretty in a little girl's room, though (I'm thinking of my own pink-obsessed daughter here lol).

I was super excited to add this listing for a rainbow 🌈 book bundle a couple weeks ago! I would seriously love to just make bundles of rainbow books all day long! Some of the colors are easier to find than others. I've just started collecting, and so far it looks like red and blue are pretty common and the others are not so much. Black and white are common, too, but I didn't include them in the rainbow.

And there's one color that I really had to hunt for before I found any of it. Any guesses as to what that was?

I sourced new books today, and here's a peek at some of my favorites! I'm discovering that, although I said pink was the hardest to find, orange seems to be just as difficult or even more so. I'm pretty excited about that bright orange one on the bottom because it's seriously only the second bright orange I've found. The one on top of it looked so orange when I picked it out, but next to the bright orange it looks.... Reddish orange? I'm regretting that one a smidge because I really don't know what category to put it in. I guess it would be great in a 12-stack rainbow, though. 🌈 Somebody buy a rainbow stack already!! 😆

Ironically, about when I decided to sell books arranged by color, I also decided to change up my arranged-by-color bookcase. I was really torn about this because I REALLY loved the bookcase organized by color. I mean, it was beautiful and made me happy for a long time. However. I think it did keep us from seeing what we really had and prevented us from easily purging things we didn't need. For example, if we had two field guides for North American plants, but one was blue and one was green, we might not realize we had two. (And if you want to keep two North American plants field guides this is 100% ok. It's just an example).

So with a bit of sadness (sounds dramatic, but it's true), I took everything off the shelves and reorganized it loosely by topic..... And I actually really like it! I got rid of several things in the process, all of my favorite books pertaining to my interests and hobbies are in one section, and seeing the change just made me happy over and over again every time I saw it. I also think this works a little better for the room if we want to have more mellow accent colors and let our blue blue couch take center stage.

Would I still recommend organizing a bookcase by color? Absolutely yes! Try it out at least once. You can always go back if it doesn't work for you.
