This mug was covered in fake Avery slip and fired in a wood and salt kiln. It would have been included in my shop update, had I not forgot to add a liner glaze.... Oops.

A week before the last time I touched clay, I achieved hare's fur effect on this mug by layering two tenmokus the studio had. Cant wait till I get back to do this again.

One greatly exaggerated twist with scoring on the outside of the mug gives it this off-kilter stance that actually works out. This is the same mug, opposite sides. Unfortunately a shard about an 1/8th of an inch wide from the mug's foot broke off onto the kiln shelf, which I smoother over with my dremel tool.

Damage to any of my work immediately makes me not willing to sell it and in most cases gives me the desire to trash the piece just for that satisfactory breaking noise ceramic makes. Which that feeling gets even better when it's a piece that you learned something from.

This is my 2nd keep-for-myself for that wood and salt firing. I'll post the other keeper tomorrow, and reveal what its flaws are, where I went wrong, and how I can prevent it from happening again.

I'm in a reflective process right now because I haven't been able to work with clay since February. Its rough, and I dont know when I'll be able to get back to it... anyways, thanks for reading. Have a great 4th of July.
