Jackpot Records began in 1997 in Portland, Oregon's Hawthorne neighborhood as an independent retailer set on getting music into the hands and ears of the people who love it. Jackpot Records is founded on the idea that the music matters, offering a wide selection of both New and Used Vinyl Lp's and cd's. In 2004, an independent record label of the same name was born into the Jackpot Records family.

In its current conception, Jackpot Records operates as a reissue label featuring albums and bands that have been seminal within their respective genres. Currently To date, Jackpot Records has reissued over 70+ works from such artists as: The Wipers, Etta James, Sun Ra, DEVO, and more. Care is paid to giving each album the most authentic and true-to-form representation, with all recordings taken from the original master tapes whenever possible.

Croz Boyce (Avey Tare & Geologist of Animal
collective) is coming to Portland & you’ve got a chance to win two tickets to see them !!!

What is Croz Boyce? What if 40 minutes of instrumental music made by two friends passing files across state lines could capture the range of human experience, or at least a disproportionate chunk of it—worry and camaraderie, hope and frustration, tenderness and absurdity? That is the question that steadily emerges across the nine tracks of the self-titled debut from Croz Boyce, the duo of two musicians who have made some of the last quarter-
century’s most inquisitive music, Dave Portner (Avey Tare) and Brian Weitz
(Geologist) of Animal Collective. Buds and collaborators for so long that it seems
they can have deep exchanges without a word or, in this case, a shared physical space, Portner and Weitz cry and hug and crack up (good) and crack up (bad) as a pair here. A record of sweet or fretful acoustic strums and electronics that give every scene color and depth, Croz Boyce feels like a celebration of friendship, of the chance to share a lifetime together even if from a distance.

OUT NOW!!!!!

Our latest Jackpot Records Label release has dropped specifically the one, the only it’s :
The Wild Magnolias’ funk masterpiece They Call Us Wild, now being released in the U.S. for the first time ever 🔥

Coming on the heels of Jackpot Records’ vinyl reissue of The Wild Magnolias’ S/T debut LP, we proudly reissue the band’s follow-up record, They Call Us Wild. Championed by critic Robert Christgau as creating “the most boisterious recorded party I know,” the band released this funk masterpiece in 1975, but now with a psychedelic streak running throughout it.

Vocals echo and drip; saxophones and keyboards swing from each other’s arms, and the omnipresent multi-layered percussion, which The Wild Magnolias were known for, showcase why they continue to be one of the most sampled bands of all time (they have been sampled by everyone from Nas to Public Enemy to Jungle Brothers). With producer Philippe Rault at the helm once again, he continued to capture the dense magic within the band, but on They Call Us Wild, they are taking a darker, more haunted approach with their music.

The smoky interplay on songs like “Injuns, Here We Come,” with its jazzy piano/bass meltdown (courtesy of Erving Charles Jr. & Wilson Turbinton of the legendary New Orleans funk band The Gaturs), solidified them as a band rather than capturing a moment...even though the celebration in the studio is still going just as strong. The band also takes itself to new sonic territory, for instance, slowing things down with “Jumalaka Boom Boom,” with its sexy groove and spoken-word storytelling sections that rival the best of P-Funk.
