My maternal grandmother. Kathyln Calvert. Raised in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She was a very serious woman but once in a while, her eyes would twinkle and she would soften up. My Grandad must’ve taken this picture, because she only smiled at him like this. They had a love affair that lasted almost 70 years.
If I’m fierce, it comes straight from this woman.
