You’d think a CAMERA STORE would be better at remembering to capture content at our own events… 😂📸

But honestly? We get distracted.
By the people who walk through our doors. By the questions that somehow turn into 20-minute photography conversations. By helping someone try a few different lenses until we find the one that actually feels right. By talking film with someone who just shot their first roll by catching up with a familiar face we haven’t seen in a while.

And that’s kind of the point. ❤️

We love hosting photography events, photo walks, workshops, and community gatherings because they give us an excuse to meet the photographers who make our community so special — and talk cameras with people who get it.

So yes… sometimes we leave an event with approximately ONE usable clip!😅

But we usually leave with a whole lot of new conversations, new friends, and plenty of camera talk. And honestly, we’ll take that.

Which is why we can’t wait to meet everyone at our next photo walk!🌹

Join us Saturday, October 17th at Owen Rose Garden in Eugene for a morning photo walk through the gardens. Come photograph, meet other local photographers, ask questions, or just hang out and talk cameras with us!

See you there! 📸

The Camera Store.

We may not have a Dundie Award, but we do have cameras, film, questionable amounts of camera knowledge, and coworkers who will absolutely answer your “quick question” with a 20-minute explanation.

Welcome to the Salem Shutterbug!📸

BIG Shoutout to Bruno Pozo | Video Marketer for the awesome footage of our store!!

Your next camera, lens, roll of film, or photography obsession is probably closer than you think.

When you shop at The Shutterbug, you’re not just buying camera gear — you’re shopping at an Oregon camera store that’s been part of the photography community for 55 years (and counting!)

We carry the gear photographers actually use: Canon, Nikon, Sony, FujiFilm, film, lenses, used gear, accessories, rentals, printing, and more! And because our inventory is always changing, there’s always something new to discover!

But the best part of shopping local? Real people who know photography. Whether you’re buying your first camera, hunting for a specific lens, getting back into film, or upgrading your kit, our team is here to help you find what actually makes sense for you — not just make a sale.

And if it’s been a while since you’ve stopped in… take this as your sign 👀

📸 The Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS walked so the new Canon PowerShot cameras could RUN.

This little camera may be a classic, but it still knows how to make a moment feel special. There’s something about the look of a a PowerShot photo that instantly brings back memories — flash-lit snapshots, imperfect framing, everyday moments that somehow become the photos you keep forever.

And that’s the magic of the PowerShot. ❤️

The technology has come a long way since the SD1300 IS, and Canon’s newer PowerShot models take that same easy, pocketable point-and-shoot spirit and give it a serious upgrade. Better technology, better performance, same idea: grab it, point it, shoot it, and make a memory.

Whether you’re using an old-school or new PowerShot cameras, there’s something nostalgic about the experience. Every photo feels like it can become your new favorite memory.

Would you bring a PowerShot back into your everyday camera bag??

After our first Fill-A-Box event, we still had so much vintage camera gear left — and somehow, we managed to acquire even more. Movie & slide projectors, darkroom equipment, vintage photography finds, and all kinds of wonderfully random treasures were taking over the place, so we had no choice but to open the doors again!

And just like last time, we loved seeing camera lovers make the trip from all over Oregon to dig through the collection. Honestly, it was basically the Goodwill Bins, but for vintage camera gear! You never know what you were going to find, and that was half the fun.

We also tried something new this time with some awesome local vendors outside selling photo backdrops, handmade wreaths, rocks, reworked vintage clothing, and more! HUGE thank you to Becky & Tiger Toad who brought their creativity and helped us make this event something a little different!

And, of course, THANK YOU to everyone who came out, dug through boxes, found some treasures, and took a piece of our collection home ❤️

But here’s the thing…
WE STILL HAVE SO MUCH LEFT!

So if you missed this one — or you’re already wondering when you can come dig again — follow us and stay tuned! We have a feeling Fill-A-Box might be making another appearance! 📦🎞️

Guilty as charged ! 😉🚔 We blame it on our amazing staff!

From helping someone find their first camera to tracking down the perfect lens, answering all the questions, troubleshooting gear, developing film, printing memories, or simply taking the time to listen — we believe shopping at a camera store should feel like more than a transaction.

Because it’s not just about selling a camera. It’s about building a community of photographers who know they have someone to turn to.

And judging by the 5-star reviews you’ve left us, we must be doing something right ❤️

To every customer who has taken the time to leave a review, tell a friend, visit one of our stores, or trust us with your photography needs: thank you. You’re the reason we love what we do.

And to our incredible Shutterbug team: consider this your official notice… you’re all guilty! 😂📷
