With the recent closing of CannaGuard, there has been quite a bit of miscommunication and rumors swirling. We would like to clarify that Cannabis Security is a separate entity from CannaGuard, that we have been in business independently from CannaGuard since our inception in 2015, and we have not entered into nor agreed to any franchise, partnership, nor other business arrangement with CannaGuard. It is important to us to clarify that our company is and always has been independently owned and operated. Our only business connection is with our sister company – Pixel Security, which has been in the security system business in Oregon and Washington since 2005.

Do you use the word cannabis or ma*****na? I find it interesting that ma*****na started out as a Mexican term that used to make more stigmatized (per Wikipedia), but if you look at the state regulations in all the states that have some form of legalized use, over half of the states use the word ma*****na instead of cannabis in their regs. Is this a non-issue these days?

Why do we call ma*****na ma*****na? Growing up, I assumed that "ma*****na" was the original Latin name for the plant I discuss every week in this column. But that's not the case.
